About Me

Kathryn Brown

My occupation is a farmer where I run a sheep and arable farm with my wonderful husband. He does the exciting jobs like driving the tractor and combine while I get to feed lambs and clean up poo. I've made it my mission to learn all about the arable side of the farm though as I do enjoy it more than looking after the sheep.

I'm also an author and have two published books under my belt. My debut novel, Discovery at Rosehill, is a paranormal romance; mediumship, ghosts, manifestations, things that go bump in the night. It's a controversial story about a medium and a priest. Best read at night, in torch light! My second book is Nightingale Woods. This one is a chick-lit/rom-com; the story of Rachel, a naive numpty who falls head over heels in love with Steve, a married man. Not your average heroine, Rachel is the kind of character to make you scream "what are you doing, you silly mare?" Nightingale Woods reached No.1 in the Amazon Kindle Romance free downloads chart, got in excess of 7,000 downloads and is still counting. It's selling worldwide in both paperback and eBook. I'm rather proud of this, can you tell?

Thirteen years ago I was blessed with a beautiful daughter. She's called Amy and is, without a shadow of a doubt, my whole life. Amy has autism. We found out when she was three and our lives have been considerably richer ever since. Many of my blog posts are about her progress, some of the crazy things she gets up to and how my unconditional love for her continues to grow.

I love writing posts about blogging, and I especially love having a good rant. This is the place I get stuff off my chest. You may not like what you read or you may not agree with it, but I welcome your comments and encourage debates. So long as they don't get too heated. I'm not big on Meme's and being tagged, mainly because I prefer to choose what to blog about myself...

Something I'd like PR's, SEO's and companies to take note of however, is this blog is all my own work, always has been and always will be. I don't do reviews, sponsored posts, advertise links, follow/nofollow or enter into any contractual agreements. My fees would be astronomical and you'd need a substantially large budget to afford me.

If you have a blogging related question or you just want to make contact, please feel free. I'm usually on the other side of a computer screen if I'm not paying fuel and fertiliser bills or having a head to head with the accountant. There are a few ways you can do this of which I list as follows:-

  4. The comment from Holler Miller above just proves my point that PR's don't friggin read our blog posts properly. What part of the paragraph of not working with outside companies don't these people understand? I'm not sure I could have put it any clearer!

    1. Ha ha. I was just approached by a PR agent who addressed me as 'Neil' and pretended to have read one of my posts. My name is Nell.

  5. Hi Kathryn,

Just read you excerpt of NIGHTINGALE WOODS on amazon.com. It's hilarious. Especially liked, "...panting like two over-excited dogs," and "I'm just the holiday; whereas she's all year around."

The beginning drew me right in and I kept reading on. You do a great job of describing the feelings of the other woman.

Tried to buy the Kindle edition, but wasn't able to because I don't live in the UK.

I'd give you 4.50 stars or more if you'd fix a couple of typos: Monday, April 15th: "Saw us sat (do you mean sitting) together." And, Monday, July 22nd: "..quite content sat (to sit?) at home all day..."

  6. Thank you for your very kind words, they are much appreciated. The book has been written from Rachel's point of view and she is a Mancunian (as am I, originally). This is how people speak and portrays Rachel's speech and accent.

    Thanks again.
