Sun, Sea and Need a Wee

Took Amy to the beach on Sunday. It doesn't happen very often but when we do go we always have a great time. It was just a walk along the beautiful sands guarded by the magnificent Bamburgh Castle but the sun was shining and the sea was a stunning colour of turquoise.  Whether it's the sea or the fact I'm just me I really don't know, but I always need the loo as soon as I step foot on the sand, and unfortunately, there aren't toilets on the beach. There are gigantic sand-dunes but the huge amount of people pottering about prevented me from squatting down amongst the wire rushes that would no doubt feel a little uncomfortable in delicate places. Nevertheless, it was a particularly pleasant walk and one I look forward to doing again. Here are a few photos:-

  1. Wow what beautiful photos! Do you know what, as a child whenever I went to the beach as soon as I got into the sea I needed a wee! Haven't been in the sea for a while so don't know if I would be the same but the boys and I cannot stay at the beach too long as mummy will need to toilet after about two hours max!
Amy is such a pretty girl and looks so much like you x

  2. The castle looks beautiful!

... about the wee, why not just go in the sea? No one can tell (unless they swim into warmer waters. I always think 'who peed?' when I do!)

  3. I LOVE that beach. I well remember Snoopy's face when we first took him there and he did a double take at all that white expanse of sand. We walked all the way to Seahouses too. You are so lucky to have that round the corner from you.

  4. Since problems with my computer I had lost touch with many of the blogs I used to read regularly, yours included. It was lovely to catch up with you again, and how your girl has grown! She has a delightful smile.
And lovely to see Bamburgh, which has to be one of my favourite castles, thank you for sharing the photos.

  7. Ha! The loos at Bamburgh are quite a walk from the beach aren't they! We have the loo problem with the 12 year old all the time! He drives me nuts with it. J on the other hand is still in pads so unless we have an emergency he's easier to handle! I'm glad you enjoyed the walk. Out of interest how does Amy cope with others on the beach? J hates it. We have to look for deserted beaches and as you know our coast line gets a bit busy at this time of year. I loved the pic of Amy on the coastal defences. I remember the wartime tank blocks that used to stretch that length of the coast. Very similar. You brought back a memory for me :) xxx

I love your photos, you were lucky with the weather! I was in the UK not so long ago and it rained every day!

  14. I always need to piss when I go to the beach, but that's probably because I only ever go there after beers.

    Lovely pictures. :-)

  15. I love Bamburgh, really hope I can get there this summer. Trouble is when you want a wee, the North Sea is so cold and the grass in the dunes is so sharp, which do you choose? Perhaps there are toilets at the castle?
