A walk around the farm with the dogs is always a pleasant activity. I love seeing the wildlife; rabbits, hares, buzzards, pheasants, deer. The dogs have really enjoyed the good weather recently as we've taken advantage of as many field walks as possible. But with border collies, it doesn't matter how far you walk, they will always keep going. I always go to great lengths to tell people not to get a collie unless they are prepared to give them a huge amount of exercise. This breed of dog need intense stimulation in order to enhance their agility; they are incredibly intelligent and will get bored quickly if not given enough attention. I can leave our two younger collies in the boot room for a couple of hours and find something has been chewed, and this is mainly due to boredom. They might be tying, but they are amazing and immensely rewarding. Training a working collie takes patience but the end results are exceptional. Here are a few pictures I took last weekend during the hot weather:-

| Frazer; the last of the pet lambs. He's been fretting all week after his mate died. |
I hope you enjoyed yourself having a walk around my farm. Now I'm off to stroke the dogs, cuddle the cats and say hello to Frazer. Before I clean his backside. The joys of farming never end...
Thanks for showing me round the farm. I had a lovely time looking at the pictures that showed up on Google Reader.
ReplyDeletePoor little Frazer Lamb. I do feel sorry for him. I wonder why his mate died?
You live in a beautiful place with stunning scenery.

ReplyDeleteOh lovely pics! I so enjoyed seeing your farm and the animals. I love Border Collies, our dog, Guinness, looked very much like a Border Collie though he was just a Heinz 57. :)
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Thanks for the tour.
ReplyDeleteLove the lambs on bluebells, I have a real thing for bluebells! Beautiful scenery.
ReplyDeleteLove all the photos! But what is all that white stringy, fluffy stuff on the tree the dogs are laying under? Curious!

Thank you for this insight into your rural bliss - get me out of London!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a dog person, but Border Collies I do like - my best friend when I was a child had one who accompanied us on all our rambles and like that, never ever got tired! Oh and the lamb pictures are so sweet :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous there, love all the cats/dogs lazing together!! I know it must be really hard work on a farm but definitely looks worth it for the life there :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! The photos are beautiful. Thanks for cheering up yet another grey day! :) xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos - you really do have a beautiful place there.
ReplyDeleteOh so love your photos.... :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics x
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, I love Jessica (I'm a Cat Person) and yes, collies will go "self-employed" if they don't have enough entertainment/work to do. My sister had a lovely Border collie and she was always looking for her next "job". She could run after the tractor all day long, in and out of the ditches sniffing about, and still not be tired at bedtime. They do need a LOT of exercise, but are great pals if you can give them the time they need :-)
ReplyDeleteThat must be the life!
ReplyDeleteLife on a farm is certainly not easy, but you are rewarded for the hardship with beautiful views and serenity on days like that. Great photos. Thank you for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteYou farm is spectacular! The virtual tour was great but so much better in person. Farm life is hard but you seemed to have taken to it. Poor Fraser. I feel bad for him. He's such a cutie pie.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to live, looks very idyllic...
