Lambs, Poo, Snot and Cuteness

We've been having the perfect weather for lambing so far and the ewes have been making the most of it. Unfortunately, I've been streaming with a full-on cold and it's floored me. The Farmer has coped of course, but it's left me feeling guilty for being no use to anyone. I have one of those very unattractive red noses, pale complexion and bags under my eyes that could be used to fill a wheelie bin. We have a lambing assistant who came to help on Tuesday and Wednesday, but she starts properly on Saturday and will be with us for just over 2 weeks. She's blonde and beautiful. The Farmer is old enough to be her granddad but he likes having her around, lol. In the meantime, enjoy these photos; I haven't taken many yet but once we bring the sheep in at night I'll be able to get some pictures from the night sheds. I'm on Twitter using the hashtag #lambwatch if anyone wants to join me - @CrystalJigsaw

Happy in the field, enjoying the glorious weather.

"Come in number 9" A little bit weak but getting there.

Visiting time in Maternity Ward 1

Cute and cuddly.

  1. They all look so cute. Hmmmm; is that a word which one can use with lambs. Yes; I believe it is.

  2. And I do hope that you are soon feeling much better. Being sick is never fun; being sick in a busy time is truly horrid.

  3. I want one! Although the noise of the maaaaaaaaaas last night drove me mad. And what was the farmer doing constantly reversing a vehicle that beeps when it reverses at 2am! At least I was in bed listening I suspect neither our local farmers or the ewes got any sleep last night. Those pesky lambs!

  4. Nice blog title.

I think I've had the same thing as you. It's dying off now but last week I nearly coughed a lung up. Anyway get well soon.

Oh yeah... any pictures of the new assistant? *runs*

  6. Wish I'd known you before I wrote TORN (http://amzn.to/wfa0Bo), Kathryn. A confrontation between my two potential heros occurs in the lambing barn. I did research with a sheep farmer but who knows what crept in afterwards.
Delightful pics. We were leaving a pub in Shoreham, Kent, years ago. Opposite was a field full of gambolling spring lambs and their mums. My grandmother took one look and said: 'Mint sauce!'.
