Clarty Farm

I tried to post this earlier but my incredible lack of technical knowledge pulled its tongue out at me and lost all the text. So I start again. And tell you once more that my farm is extremely muddy today. Big Wow, I hear you say. It rained over night and left us knee deep in shit. Hen shit, sheep shit, dog shit, you name it. My sister's coming later today to spend a few days here. She's clean. Her clothes are always spotless. She's also a townie, as I used to be, but whenever she comes in this weather I dread to see the contents of her suitcase. Jeans and jumpers do it for me; I won't say anymore in case she reads this post. I'll leave you with a few photographs taken earlier.

  1. It's probably not you but Blogger/Blogspot. I had similar problems when I used Blogger. Last week I switched to WordPress and I find it much better.

I like the pictures of the farm.

  3. Looks lovely to me, mud doesn't bother me. Father inlaw is a poatato farmer so BG will grow up playing on a farm. Hope you have a good weekend x

  6. You have chickens. Ergo I am jealous!!

Your farm (even with the mud) is beautiful. Your sister will understand. Besides, she comes to see you, not spotless clothing and shoes. Give her a good pair of boots and have a laugh.

  7. Oh, it looks wonderful. What I'd give to muck around in a pair of wellies!

LoL. The first time I wrote that I wrote 'willies'. So glad I noticed before I hit publish :)

  8. I love seeing pictures of farms. There is something about a farm that comforts me cos I grew up in the countryside.

  9. I am sure your sister will have a wonderful time. Anyway, the sort of uncleanliness you're describing is a sort of clean, close to the land type of mess, not the uncleanliness of lack of hygeine. Different story.

You're coping realy well. Loved the photos...

  10. Imagine this being snow, knee high still and it just started snowing again. At the moment I dread the day when this starts to melt, because it will probably turn the ice rinks into streaming rivers before they turn into what they actually are --streets---

  11. You never know what people are really thinking....as you write your post, she might have been thinking that you seem so comfortable in your life and she wished she could be that way. Relaxed and more uninhibited about all that is going on around you. She might be envying your life! But no matter..she is your sister and I'm sure adores you and your family ;-)

  12. We have the rain today, at least it cleared away the snow.
On account of similar text lossesI've resorted to writing post material on a document and pasting it across. It's disheartening to have to type a post twice. Hope your visit goes well.

  14. Laurie - yes, we have, I'm so sorry for that. xx

Steve - I'm too scared to move to Wordpress, my technical abilities don't stretch that far.

Bumblingalong - Ah yes, always beautiful.

New Mummy - Oooh, potato farmer, very muddy job!

TheMadHouse - I could do with you here for a few weeks during lambing!

Brian - Glad you like my pics, was planning of posting more but Blogger was being naughty.

The Good Cook - Yep, 40 hens, all laying lots of eggs. I laugh at my sis, not sure she laughs at me, not in a nice way anyway!

Elaine - Trust you. Say n'more.

The Moiderer - I'll post some more next week, just for you.

Gaelikaa - Yes you're right. I am clean as in I shower and stuff, but my clothes aren't!!

Ivy - Oh I hate snow, would rather have the mud.

Janet - You are so right. I've often thought the same thing but obviously never say anything.

Valerie - That's a good idea, I have done it once or twice but usually just write my posts in the blogger.

Thank you for your comments, CJ xx

  19. I'm always having technical problems CJ - I put it down to my age though realise that cannot be the reason for your glitches. Hope you enjoy your sister's visit and that she doesn't end up like Margot in "The Good Life". A

  20. Your home is beautiful. Your pictures have me sort of captivated. Mud or no mud, you've got an awesome spot of earth.

I was raised on a Texas ranch, but have since turned into a city girl. I like your term "townie." That describes me.

  21. What a tidy orderly farm. A pair of colourful wellies are just the thing for the farm visitor. Have a wonderful visit with your sister.

  22. I love that word "clarty". Yes..it does sum up the situation! I also too must write in word first...I'd hate to lose a post.....

    ReplyDelete
  23. also too !! one or t'other but not both....ach!

  24. I wouldn't worry. I am sure she must be well aware that a farm cannot be squeaky clean. that is surely part of the allure of the countryside. In any case, she is coming to see you and the state of the farm should not be important. By the way, how do you get the strike-through icon on blogger. I do not seem to have it.

  25. I hope you have plenty of jeans & tops & wellies that you can lend your sister :-)

    Have a great time.

  31. Rudee - Yes, she's brought her wellies!

Busy Bee Suz - Never heard of that program, will check it out, thanks.

    Jinksy - Always hot blooded!!

William - yes, it makes me feel better that other experience the bad times too!!!

Anne - I sometimes think it could be my age. I'm sort of missing out on the technology whereas Amy seems totally clued up.

    Dave - Sun? What's that?

vvdenman - thank you for saying that. I imagine Texas is wonderful, perhaps we all have our own piece of paradise.

Anne - It might look tidy and orderly but really it isn't !

Hadriana's Treasure - It's quite clarty in the kitchen too with the farmer's wellies.

Rosiero - When creating a new post you should have the little icon along the row at the top, ABC with a line through it.

Maggie - she's not done so bad this time and brought some older clothes rather than designer ones!

Mari - thanks for the tag. I'm just not technical at all and the whole thing is very daunting for me.

Cheshire Wife - I'm getting fed up with it now, I don't have a clean pair of shoes in the house and I can't go out in my slippers.

Jen - she's brought her wellies. I need lots of advice with the computer stuff!!

Ellen - How lovely to have been brought up on a farm. I love the fact that Amy is having that pleasure now.

Star - I used to say that. And then my dream came true.

Thank you for your comments, CJ xx

  33. I had chickens when growing up on a farm, I remember times that were very wet and the chickens could hardly walk when the mud started to dry and their little legs got heavy.
Beautiful to look at not to beautiful to work in. xx

  34. I hope she can look beyond the mudshit and see all the beauty that is around her. You live in a beautiful home, with beautiful views and most importantly with beautiful people inside. I know that you will have a wonderful visit and Amy will enjoy seeing her Aunt.
Enjoy your time together and your weekend.

  36. oh i know that muddy feeling so well! our farm is just dirt, the yard, the drive, the lanes. It the summer it's great cause it's hard and in the winter it's covered in snow but spring is evil. all that snow melts and it rains and everything i own, including all the furniture in my house, gets covered in mud. I feel for you.

    gorgeous place btw.

  37. It's beautiful. Shit and all ;-) Growing up, I always wanted to live the farm life. Your post hasn't deterred me.

  40. A wonderful place, so serene and pastoral. Never mind the mud as long as it is warm inside and there is plenty of hot tea.
But the real treasure here is your writing.

  41. We have the exact same mud here at the moment, and we also have guinea shit......that's the life living on a farm! We have had so much rain, but we need it!

  43. Mud, snow, and poop. That's what we have. Had to tell my daughter to get a run @ the driveway so she could get in it.
Your Sis will understand I'm sure. If she doesn't let her do some chores and then she will. LOL
